Holywood is our brand new soap! Its been an idea on my mind for months and I was thrilled to finally manifest it into physical form on the last full moon of December 2020. It features palo santo wood ground into a powder and palo santo essential oil with amyris (aka West Indian Sandalwood) essential oil to fix in and support the scent.
Palo Santo means Holy Wood and is native to Central and South America. The aromatic wood has been traditionally used by indigenous people in sacred practices for centuries. Burning the wood is said to cleanse away evil spirits and misfortune while attracting balance, positivity and healing on a physical and spiritual level. We think that using this holy wood and essential oil in our soap and rubbed over the head and body will have a similar effect.
Medicinally palo Santo essential oil contains a variety of terpenes that have anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-histamine properties. Some of the benefits include immunity boosting, reducing inflammation, seasonal allergies, muscle pain, migraines and stress related headaches. It is also said to elevate the mood, improve sleep and repel mosquitos. Interestingly palo santo essential oil has also been found to contain compounds that fight free radicals and cancerous cell mutation inhibiting growth of tumors.
We specialize in making all natural products. Our soaps should be left to dry on a good soap dish uplifted from puddles of water in between uses to last a long time. They are gentle on the environment and you. Our soaps are hand stirred and cured the old fashion way... time. These will have cured almost a moon cycle before they are ready.
